National Scams Awareness Month 2018

June is National Scams Awareness Month and Coventry Citizens Advice wants you to get involved.

Over £5bn is lost to consumers each year through mass-marketed scams alone; yet only 5% of scams are reported. We want you to report your experiences.

If you want to find out more about local scams, or even sign up to the scam alert system run by Coventry Trading Standards, visit www.coventry.gov.uk/tradingstandards and see what they have to offer.

If you have been the victim of a scam, or are aware of scams in your area, please report your experiences either to Trading Standards , to www.actionfraud.police.uk , or to the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 03454 040506.

If you just want to find out more about scams in general, and how to protect yourself and your family, visit the national Citizens Advice website www.citizensadvice.org.uk  and put ‘scams’ in the search engine.

The best way to combat fraudsters is to share your experiences widely and quickly. Use social media to get the message out to your friends and family; and be safe online.

If you want to know more, or tell us about scams you have come across in the past, go to our campaigns page for more information and a chance to tell your story.
