Are you a Myton patient or carer who needs advice or support? Our free service can help.

The Myton Hospices Advice Service is a partnership between The Myton HospicesMacmillan Cancer Support and Coventry Citizens Advice. It is available to all Myton patients and their close families, and provides independent, impartial and confidential advice.

Our caseworker will help you through some of the issues that come from being diagnosed with a life-limiting illness, offering advice and support on welfare benefits, grants, housing, employment and any other issues you might have. We provide a casework service, so you can come back and speak to us whenever you need further support.

What we can help with

A complete benefit check to see what financial help you should be getting, including help applying for disability benefits such as Personal Independence Payment or Attendance Allowance. If a partner or family member could qualify as your carer, we can help them apply too.
We can help you apply to local or national grants for specific help, check whether you meet the criteria, and submit applications on your behalf.
If you rent, we can advise on your rights in situations such as eviction or disrepair. We can talk through basic options around mortgages or property inheritance, and signpost you to a specialist where needed.
We can work with you on employment issues, advise on employment law and the protections or rights you may have, and how to enforce them.
We can talk about benefits, budgeting and the options that may be available. We cannot give regulated financial advice (such as how best to deal with a pension pot) — for that you would need a qualified, regulated Independent Financial Adviser.
We can help guide you through the early steps of bereavement, including applying for benefits and practical arrangements such as informing government departments, or point you in the right direction if we cannot help directly.
If you wish, we can talk through some of the practical considerations that come with a life-limiting diagnosis, such as making a will and managing finances, bills and housing. You never have to discuss this with us unless you want to.
Our caseworker will do as much as they can for you, including speaking on your behalf if you would like. For specialist or regulated issues they may refer you to the right place while continuing to work with you.
